Research Associate

Dr. Shana N. Riddick is a recent transplant to Minneapolis. She is currently a Research Associate at the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at the University of Minnesota. She is the Project Manager on the Building Capacity with Black Women and Self-Pay Pilot Projects as well as Co-Principal Investigator on the Brooklyn Park Housing Project.

Shana has a master’s degree in African-American and African Diaspora Studies from Indiana University-Bloomington and a PhD in Education Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research examines university-community engagement – focusing on equity, resource mobilization, voice and representation. Shana has organized and participated in regional and national conferences in the areas of: education, U.S. history, and race and social justice. She is an award winning university instructor and researcher. Shana is passionate about community programming and community organizing, particularly regarding education and youth. For the past few years she has volunteered with a youth-based mentoring program through CommonBond Communities, where she works one-on-one with an amazing young lady.
