Recent CURA projects related to environment and energy have included farmland preservation and local and regional food systems, use of remote sensing technologies to monitor and assess water quality in Minnesota lakes, the impact of global climate change on conservation programs and agricultural yields, solutions to antibiotic-resistant bacteria in surface waters and high arsenic levels in well water, a feasbility study for biomass energy production, state policies to encourage bioenergy innovation, and improvements to the utility rate system for reverse-metered electricity generated by wind power.
