Search CURA Publications Catalog

The CURA publications library is currently being digitized by the University of Minnesota Digital Conservancy. When the project is complete, the entire CURA publications library will be online and fully searchable. Unfortunately, during this process we are not able to honor individual requests for publications . Additionally, we no longer have physical copies of publications to send out.

New publications are digitized daily and the publications catalog on the CURA website is not automatically updated with links to scanned copies, so please search the CURA collection at the Digital Conservancy for the publications you are looking for:

Search for reports, monographs, CURA Reporter articles, and other publications stemming from CURA-supported projects.

  • For search terms entered in the Search full text box, only publications matching all terms will be found. Use fewer terms to broaden your search, or more terms to narrow it.
  • The optional Program and Keywords fields can help further refine your search.
  • Search results will be displayed below the search form.

Connecting the Community Report Edwards, Brittany

This summer, we were able to gather community input and ideas on increasing bike and walkability on North-South routes along the Lake Street corridor, where future transit stations are most likely to be placed. This memo will focus on the engagement methods chosen and the most relevant feedback from each, along with some new ideas to improve these connections. Through an online survey and a series of focus groups, we were able to obtain a set of macro and micro data of community identified issues and potential solutions.

Like many a good story, this one starts from the end, working back to the beginning—at least, when this researcher last worked with the Aurora St. Anthony Peace Sanctuary Garden. This garden, a place of education and community advocacy, operates through the open-hearted and consistent efforts of its community members.

Handbook for Navigating through the Minneapolis Commercial Corridor Process. 1996 Lukermann, Barbara L., Mariia V. Zimmerman, and Deb Martin.

It supplies worksheets, flowcharts, and a glossary of terms and organizations. It identifies the important questions to ask, resources to consider, and issues to address.

There Goes the Neighborhood? The Impact of Subsidized Multi-Family Housing on Urban Neighborhoods. 1996 Goetz, Edward G., Hin Kin Lam, and Anne Heitlinger.

Does subsidized housing ruin the neighborhood? In 1996 a professor of housing and two graduate students studied the impact of twenty-three subsidized multi-family projects developed by nonprofit community development corporations (CDCs) in the central neighborhoods of Minneapolis. They found that property values actually go up next to CDC housing projects, that crime goes down, and that the projects add to the stability of the neighborhood.
