Mapping Downtown Development in St. Paul: A New Geographic Information System for Understanding the Past.

The first results of a 1992 research project that is using a geographic information system to reconstruct the historical development of downtown St. Paul are reported. Sources for the St. Paul Downtown Atlas are discussed along with how it is being created. Sample maps show how the atlas can be used for analyzing change in the downtown.
