Understanding Transportation Use and Needs in the Blake Road Neighborhood

The Blake Road Corridor Collaborative (BRCC) is based in Hopkins and is a working partnership of community and governmental organizations. The BRCC engages with neighborhood residents and businesses to improve the quality of life in the Blake Road neighborhood through projects related to improving safety, supporting positive activities for youth, and improving neighborhood infrastructure. In 2008, Wilder Research recommended increasing access to social services and recreation programs by reducing access barriers, providing transportation to services outside of the Corridor, or co-locating services in community settings. However, a detailed understanding of transportation use and needs by residents is needed. Nicole Campbell, a Master of Urban and Regional Planning student in the Humphrey School, will collect background information on the neighborhood, prepare and administer a survey instrument and offer recommendations. The results will be used to assist residents in being able to advocate for beneficial changes and investments.
