Profile of 2010 Twin Cities Pride Festival and Parade Attendees

Twin Cities Pride is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that produces the annual Gay-Lesbian-Bisexual-Transgender Pride Celebration in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Currently, Twin Cities Pride has sustainability issues, both in the short-term and the long-term. Last year, Fox 9 News estimated that the Pride celebration brought in over $50 million in revenues to the local economy. Unfortunately, this financial boom has not positively impacted Twin Cities Pride, the non-profit organization responsible for organizing the celebration as the organization only breaks even after the festival. The effects of one year of inclement weather and/or poor attendance could cause the demise of the Twin Cities Pride Festival and Parade. Kristen Cici, an Evaluation Studies doctoral student in the College of Education and Human Development, designed and implemented a survey of Pride festival attendees. The results are being used to inform future planning for the Festival.
