Northside Asset Map 2012

The Urban Research Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) was designed to “link the University in vital public partnership with urban communities to advance learning, improve quality of life and discover breakthrough solutions to critical problems.” In 2006 the University of Minnesota produced a Northside Asset Map. This report was created as a benefit to the partnership and as a resource for community partners. The community and the University require sound and up-to-date information to help understand the community, its strengths and weaknesses. This project will provide a new and updated Northside Asset map for use by the University and its community partners. Tisa Mitchell, a graduate student in Family Social Science, will review the 2006 asset map, explore models for conducting and producing an asset map, select a model and design a process, collect data, compile maps and produce a final project. The results will be used to provide the community an updated snapshot that can be used for grant writing, legislation and other policy change, as well as celebration.
