Mississippi National River and Recreation Area Sustainability Framework

The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area (MNRRA) was established in 1988 in the heart of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Park encompasses a 72-mile stretch of the Mississippi River. Graduate students in a capstone workshop in urban planning at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs taught by Dr. Carissa Schively Slotterback created a sustainability framework that allows MNRRA to incorporate sustainability into its short- and long-term planning efforts.
