Kingfield Park Youth Organizing

KFNA is a neighborhood-based nonprofit that works with volunteers to identify community issues and implement community-created strategies to address these issues. Project Footsteps is a nonprofit organization that represents more than a mission, but a movement to inspire, empower, and prepare young people to be agents of change, social leaders, and volunteers. The original project was to host an It Pays to Change teen program, which offered social leadership development in addition to a small stipend for participating teens. The program is modeled after Project Footsteps youth program model, connect, inspire, empower and act! The project empowered a group of teens to literally be the change in the Kingfield neighborhood in Minneapolis. The group of teens in this program represented the racial and socioeconomic diversity of the Kingfield community. During the course of their program, they talked intensely about the racial segregation in Kingfield and as young people, what they could do to change the course of tomorrow. 100% of the youth are continuing to stay engaged in being change agents and social leaders, and some are involved with KFNA.
