Economic Justice Monitoring Project (Phase II - Recommendations)

The Asian Economic Development Association (AEDA) is a nonprofit with a special emphasis on Asian small businesses in low-income communities. In the spring and summer of 2012, the stories of Little Mekong business owners’ experiences with CCLRT construction were collected and documented to produce a comprehensive a picture of the CCLRT “impact” on immigrant businesses. AEDA and the communities surrounding the CCLRT have a unique opportunity to contribute to a new draft supplemental environmental impact statement that the Metropolitan Council has been mandated to conduct, which will wholly focus on the impact of the CCLRT on businesses. Thao Phuong Nguyen, a communications undergradaute student in the College of Liberal Arts, will connect data gathered from previous efforts to create a comprehensive report of CCLRT’s impact on businesses. The results will be used to inform comments to the new draft supplemental environmental impact statement and shape advocacy for further mitigation to help businesses thrive.
