Documenting Outcomes of Immigration Legal Services for Immigrants and Refugees
The Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide quality immigration legal services and law-related education to meet the steadily increasing needs of Minnesota's growing immigrant and refugee communities. ILCM’s legal services aid low-income immigrants in crucial moments in their lives, but ILCM often loses touch with clients after securing immigration benefits for them. ILCM needs to move beyond anecdotal knowledge of client’s life experiences to gain a more complete understanding of how outcomes impact client’s. Raphi Rechitsky a Sociology PHD student, conducted interviews, focus groups and surveys of ILCM’s clients to determine the impact of ILCM services on their lives. The results are being used to improve advocacy efforts and services for immigrants.
