Community Biomass Energy Feasibility Study

Dovetail Partners is a nonprofit organization that provides information about the impacts and trade-offs of environmental decisions, including consumption choices, land use, and policy alternatives. The citizen’s group known as the Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP) in conjunction with the Cook County Board of Commissioners desired to explore the feasibility of community-based biomass energy production in Cook County, with particular emphasis on understanding the short and long-term environmental, social, and economic impacts of utilizing woody biomass in this area. A student research assistant is needed to support the investigation of biomass energy feasibility in Northeastern Minnesota with communities in Cook County. The results will be presented to the Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP) members and posted at the project webpage. The results are being used to inform the study and the future direction of biomass energy in northeastern Minnesota.
