Neighborhood Planning for Community Revitalization (NPCR)

612-625-1020 | Kris Nelson
SERVES: Community and Neighborhood Organizations in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Twin Cities metro area suburbs

GOALS:

  • To enhance the capacity of community-based organizations by providing access to research and technical resources available at local academic institutions
  • To provide faculty and students of local post-secondary educational institutions with increased opportunities to complete useful, neighborhood-driven applied research projects

PROGRAM: Neighborhood Planning for Community Revitalization (NPCR) supports neighborhood organizations and community development corporations involved in neighborhood-based revitalization by providing student research assistants—and occasionally faculty researchers—to carry out neighborhood-initiated and neighborhood-guided projects. NPCR provides approximately 200 hours of student time to work on a project defined by the community (260 hours during the summer).

APPLICATIONS: Applications from neighborhood organizations are accepted three times a year. Visit the CURA Community Application Information page for deadlines and information on how to apply for assistance (including links to online application forms). Financial contributions from organizations selected for assistance are important to leveraging our resources to serve more projects and are always appreciated.

Student job opportunities available through NPCR (and other CURA programs) are listed online. Students interested in applying for a position should identify a job opening for which they are qualified and follow the instructions provided for how to apply.

For more information, contact NPCR program director Kris Nelson by phone at 612-625-1020 or by e-mail.
