CURA is pleased to announce that Neeraj Mehta has been named director of community-based research. Mehta has a strong background in community-based work, most recently as a program officer at Nexus Community Partners. Prior to that, he worked as program manager with Project for Pride in Living, and as program and strategic development director with the Sanctuary Community Development Corporation. Mehta has a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, also from the University of Minnesota. In 2011, he was awarded a Bush Leadership Fellowship, which he is using to learn from community-building efforts in North Minneapolis and other places where strong social capital and social networks have created the foundation necessary to effectively address issues like housing, education, and public safety.
