In 2014, Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, the McKnight FoundationULI Minnesota, and Enterprise Community Partners sponsored the Minnesota Challenge, an “idea competition” to solicit proposals for reducing the cost of producing new, affordable multifamily housing. The winning proposal focused on local government practices and policies that affect the cost of new development. Jack Cann and Tim Thompson will present the MN Challenge report on best practices for local governments to reduce affordable housing development costs, as well as discuss recommendations for implementation steps that could enhance adoption of the best practices.
