Please join the University of Minnesota’s Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute (HFHL),  the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA) and the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) for a community-university networking gathering with academics, researchers and community organizations, to discuss potential research projects and partnerships of mutual interest and to learn more about what each of the parties can offer. It will be a perfect opportunity for potential collaborators to share a couple of hours of creative thought and discussion. Appetizers will be served. A cash bar will be available and guests are welcome to a complementary beverage.

This open networking opportunity will not only be a chance to mingle and meet others but to also learn more about the funding mechanisms that HFHL, CURA and IAS currently employ.  Learn more about funding opportunities here: Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute;  Center for Urban and Regional Affairs programs for community-initiated projects,  faculty-initiated projects and government-initiated projectsInstitute for Advanced Study.
Participants are encouraged to think widely about the possibilities and interests within their work that could benefit from a university/community collaboration.

For example:

  • A community organization might be looking for academic partners to pursue potential projects, to develop an existing or new service, or for a student researcher to  assist in a community-based applied research project or other short-term projects;
  • A researcher might be looking for community or university partners to collaborate on a joint funding bid or for involvement in a community-based action research project.
