Small Scattered Site Development . . . Does it Work?

Date and time:
April 16, 2010 - 12:00pm - 1:30pm

Presenters:

  • Chad Schwitters, Executive Director, Urban Homeworks, Inc.
  • Dan Hunt, Director of Housing, Urban Homeworks, Inc.

Inefficiency echoes in the ear when small, scattered-site projects and management are contemplated (and for that matter, attempted). However, as a community builder and developer, Urban Homeworks is focused on providing tools and tactics to stabilize the most volatile property in our neighborhoods, in spite of the inefficiencies and with an eye on community efficacy. This CURA Housing Forum included a “powerless point” presentation that described the Urban Homeworks model while addressing the importance of duplex, triplex, and other small multi-unit rehabilitation, stabilization, and highly relational (yet structured) property management. For more information, see Urban Homeworks’ website.
