Streamlining to Make Local Government/University Collaboration Easier

In late 2004, Hennepin County, Minnesota's largest local unit of government with 22% of the state’s population, and the University of Minnesota, the state’s premier research institution, initiated an effort to capture value for both organizations through a more strategic collaboration—connecting the two organizations where mutual benefit can be found. The Hennepin-University Partnership builds from existing and historical collaboration towards a sustained and productive relationship that benefits both entities.

Susan Galatowitsch Named 2007-2008 Fesler-Lampert Chair in Urban and Regional Affairs

Susan Galatowitsch, professor of restoration ecology in the Department of Horticultural Science, has been named the 2007–2008 Fesler-Lampert Chair in Urban and Regional Affairs. Galatowitsch’s appointment, announced this past May, was made by the vice provost and dean of the Graduate School, Gail Dubrow, based on recommendations from CURA’s nominating committee.
