Former CURA staff member Warner Shippee died July 7, 2005, in St. Paul at the age of 88.
Throughout his career, Warner’s work focused on housing, city planning, and redevelopment,
issues he pursued as executive director of the St. Paul Housing and Redevelopment
Authority during the 1950s and 1960s, and later as director of the University Community
Development Corporation. He joined the CURA staff in 1972, where he continued
to pursue his interests in urban affairs and community development issues as director of
housing studies. Warner will be fondly remembered.
