GOALS: The Neighborhood Partnership Initiative (NPI) program is designed to support innovative and effective partnerships that involve new constituencies, solve problems, and improve the community for everybody. After two funding rounds a small amount of money remains in the program. In order to disperse this CURA is issuing a call for mini grant proposals. A few grants up to $2,000 will be awarded to successful applicants.
ELIGIBILITY: Partnerships applying to NPI must include at least one government-recognized neighborhood or citizen participation organization (Minneapolis Neighborhood Group or St. Paul District Council) and at least one youth, immigrant, or arts organization with nonprofit status. The neighborhood organization should be the lead partner. Previous grantees are eligible to apply for the mini grant. If a grantee is applying for further funding for the same project, then they should show the continuing innovation in the project, what has been accomplished, and how they have increased involvement with the previous grant.
APPLICATION PROCESS: The deadline for applications is May 8, 2009. To apply:
- Complete the Neighborhood Partnership Initiative Application Form.
- Submit applications via e-mail to: curacbr@umn.edu. Please send word documents only; PDFs will not be accepted.
- Your application will be reviewed by a committee. You will be notified as soon as possible of the committee’s decision regarding your application. Successful applications will have clearly defined partnerships that increase the involvement of immigrant, underrepresented, and youth constituencies in solving neighborhood problems and improving the community for everybody. We are especially interested in funding partnerships that will leverage organizational resources and effectiveness, and that have the potential for an ongoing relationship. Priority will be given to innovative projects over existing programs.
