Shortening Your Voicemail Announcement

Posted by Mike Greco, January 8, 2007

Start your new year off right with a shorter voicemail message! If you want to get rid of that pesky extra message after your voicemail greeting (the automated female voice that tells you how to fax, forward messages, beam up, etc.) here's all you need to do:

1. Go to http://go4msg.umn.edu.

2. Enter your 5-digit phone number in the account field. Enter your password for the web interface. (If you don't know what your password is call 1-HELP, option 3, and they will reset it for you.)

3. Click “Login.”

4. On the left side navigation bar, click on “Options.”

5. Under Message Management, click on “Voicemail.”

6. Under Voicemail settings, click on “Messages.”

7. Click the “Edit” button at the top of the screen.

8. Uncheck “Play Other system options after playing your greeting to the callers.”

9. Click the “Update” button to save the changes.

Thanks to Melanie Clarke at University Relations for sharing this little trick.
