| by Will Craig (updated October 2007) 1. First priority is given to those using special software on this machine. Those using standard software can be bumped by those needing to use special software.
2. Organize your files. There are two options:
a. Short-term users: Login to the public account and create a personal folder on the desktop to keep all your files in. Files found elsewhere on the public account will be discarded.
The public account can be accessed via a fresh Restart or by logging out and then logging back in. In either case, a login window will appear with “mnis” as the user name and the password already entered and ready to go. Just click "OK" to start.
b. Long-term users. Doug can create a separate login account for you. This will give you your own Desktop and My Documents. Be sure to “log off” when done, or the next user of the machine will have access to your files and may mistakenly save files under your login.
3. Remove unneeded files and folders. Older, unused files on the public account will be purged periodically. Folders too.
4. No personal software. Other software can cause legal and technical problems for CURA. Any non-CURA software found on these machines will be uninstalled and discarded. If you need a software program that is not installed on these machines, ask Will Craig or Doug Gogerty about ordering a copy for CURA.
5. Good work environment. Minimize noise and other distractions. Remove any material when you leave. Recycle paper, etc.
6. Personal Use. Such use is permitted as long as others are not waiting to use the machine. A limited amount of supplies, notably paper and ink, can go to personal use. Business use of these machines is not permitted.
